A wonderful hotel with incredible staff, very helpful, beautiful location would definitely recommend anyone to stay here
This place is a gem. No question. Rooms are a bit vintage but perfectly fine. Equiped with the basics.
Food is excellent. Breakfast service was outstanding and the eggs cooked to perfection. Seriously: they nailed the scrambled eggs like I would only Gordon Ramsay expect them to deliver. Staff during breakfast operations really cared about the small details. Definitely five stars!
However overall only 4 instead of 5 stars because:
1. Management of the restaurant next to the lobby was semi professional. Restaurant manager refused to shut doors even when it was raining and pretty chilly outside and started a unhelpful discussion (supposedly a Covid safety measure which none of the other staff was aware of when they simply closed the doors when asked). Also drinks here didn't live up the standard that one could expect from a 4* hotel (vodka soda incl. sugar syrup for some reason)
2. We booked a wine tasting in the wine cellar of the hotel which was a total waste of money. A local vineyard owner trash talked every other wine you could possibly think of only to praise his own pretty cheap tasting Riesling. Highly unprofessional and not worth any money. We did a wine tasting the night before at Dr. Leimbrock vineyard which gave us an indication on what a tasting can look like on the other end of the spectrum.
Overall still a great experience and would come back but still would love to see some adjustments on the tasting and restaurant service operation.
Very kind and helpful staff. Super eBike rent service.
A great venue in a historic building. Class without the fuss. In a quiet village near the river and with a nice garden. Very friendly staff and above all very good restaurant. Ideal for exploring the middle Mosel valley. Ample wine list with very good varieties.
Although the restaurant offers a great atmosphere and a lovely outside terrace I find the food way overpriced. We booked ourselves an English style afternoon tea and were looking forward to it. We were offered a glass of bubbles to start the thing off (not very English...) The so called "tea ceremony" was informative and even entertaining. But you can't eat that, can you?
We got one pot of tea per person and a multi-tiered tray with some small sweets, two fake scones with fake clotted cream, two thin slices of a mini pie and four mini sandwiches with not even real cheddar cheese. Priced €37,50 pp....
What an experience I had, several months later in the Netherlands, where the English afternoon tea offered me as much tea as I liked and four times the amount of goodies to eat. This time the real thing and for just €25 pp.
Great food and service but was no aircon. Was almost dying of heat and had to sit near open door - which helped little. Complementary water should have been supplied at least instead of water at €7.50 A bottle - which we needed 2 of due to heat. Would not revisit.
Best food, coming here to the region to purchase my favourite riesling wines and keep complaining about the fact that there is not one decent restaurant.... last week the kind manager from the 'riesling house' told me to try richtershof. Indeed its very well. Worth to check it out. (Lunch from 12-17.00 )
Very nice small Real 4 star hotel, very good value, friendly attentive service, amazing food, 2 star Michelin quality. Try the deer (hirsch and reh) it is world class, and the salad, Richtershofsalad, try with the fresh gambas or without. The also do fantastic mushrooms in garlic and red wine sauce (real reduced). Inspired and top klass food at very reasonable prices. Our favorite hotel and restaurant I the Moseley. Worth the trip when combined with visits to the lovely villages on the Mosel, wine tastings, inexpensive high quality shopping. you will love it.
